2010 Roero Arneis
This wine was bright and crisp and a great wine for an aperatif or with shellfish. I would drink this all summer long because it was so refreshing.
2009 Barbera d'Alba Scarrone
Only one of several barberas that Vietii makes, this one was clearly young but had good tannic structure to it, though the tannins weren't overpowering. Flavors of cherry and licorice.
2009 Barolo Brunate
This Barolo was the leanest of the three with the most minerality and acidity. Tight and focused but probably the best for food.
2009 Barolo Lazzarito
Black licorice was the most dominate character in this wine. There was also a considerable amount of red cherry and cassis. It had a silky mouthfeel but I also think this needs the most time before it is ready to drink.
2009 Barolo Rocche
This was my personal favorite of the group with the most balance between fruit and tannin. Still young, but definitely has the most potential. I would drink this with a nice steak or even with the traditional pasta of the region, tagliatelle.
